Quentin Williams has known for a long time that he wanted to practice law in the sports and entertainment industries. His road to that goal has taken him through the School of Law, the FBI, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the National Football League, and the National Basketball Association.

“It’s a dream come true to have that goal become my reality. Through all my experiences I learned that one could achieve a true sense of business independence by pursuing entrepreneurial interests. When I founded Williams Media, and later Butler Lappert & Williams PC, I most wanted to enjoy the autonomy of running my own enterprise.”

In 1996 he started to develop independent film projects while working in the sports industry. From there he founded Williams Media and Marketing Group LLC, which is dedicated to the development of independent film and television projects, children’s publishing ventures, and the importation and marketing of products manufactured internationally.

Quentin also had been serving as a legal consultant and advisor to celebrities and executives in the sports and entertainment industries. And in 2006, his career evolved once again.

“I founded Butler Lappert & Williams PC, a full-service law firm in New York City that specializes in sports and entertainment law. As Chairman and CEO of the firm, I am responsible for all of the firm’s operations, on both a big-picture and micro level.”

Whether he is working on a project within the field of law or outside the field, the preparation he received at the School of Law has equipped him for success and continued professional growth. “St. John’s School of Law has a great history of graduating students who transition into positions of leadership in the community. We have an esteemed list of alumni in both the public and private sectors, including Ron Brown and Mario Cuomo. Additionally, St. John’s gave me the foundation for pursuing my entrepreneurial interests and has an extremely successful record for preparing students for the New York State Bar exam. The education I received at St. John’s prepared me to be a businessman as well as an attorney.”
